March Training Log

Total Days of Working Out = 14 days
Miles Running: 33.2 miles
Miles on Road Bike: 156.2
Swimming: 2100 yards
Starting Weight: 193 lbs
Ending Weight: 191.5 lbs

Overall it was a very good month.  Felt much better than February.  Very frustrating that all that work only led to 1.5 lb weight loss.  Need to get in more days of training.  Should only be doing 1 or 2 days of rest per week.  Goal for April should be 20 workout minimum.

Wednesday (3/3) - Run  6.1 miles  (56:38)
3 mile warm up with uphill 30:38
3 mile downhill with flats 25:58
6:30 am, temp in 40s - light rain. Forgot to eat. Slow start warming up. Felt pretty good on the hill climbs. Started tiring a bit during the last mile.

Friday (3/5) - Run 7 miles  (1:05:28)  6:30 am
3 mile split 29:27 (warm up / uphill)
3 mile split 26:08 (downhill to flat)

Saturday (3/6) - Bike and Run
Bike 34 miles  (2 hours 8 minutes)  Average Speed 16.0
Run - 2 miles (19:38)  very painful.  Like running on two telephone poles.

Sunday (3/7) - Bike 14 Miles: Casual ride with kids to coffee republic for lunch.

Monday (3/8) - Swim 1000 yards total.
Warm up - 75 free, 75 breast, 50 kickboard, 100 free
2 x 300
1st 300 with 100 yard split times - (1:47, 1:54, 1:49)
2nd 300 with 100 yard split times - (1:46,1:52,1:54)
100 yard free cool down.

Tuesday 3/9 - Run Approx 6 miles (56:33)
6:30 am, temp 38 degrees, ate a banana and peanut butter with 1/2 cup coffee and water.  Other than being cold, it felt good to run a flat course at a slow pace.
Weight - 193.5

Wednesday  (3/10) - Bike 7.6 miles - Hill Climbs (Costco hill)
Average Speed 14.2, 32 minutes
Cold and rainy 37 degrees
Banana, peanut butter and coffee before the ride
 
Thursday (3/11 )- Run approximately 3 miles (32:44)
5:00pm after work - ran with Jeremiah

Saturday (3/13) - Bike 62 miles (3 hours 52 minutes)
Average Speed 16.0
Ironman 70.3 Bike Distance (56.2, 3 hours, 27 minutes, average speed 16.2)
7 am ride - cold low 40's and ice on the bridges
 
Tuesday 3/16 - Run 6.1 miles (55:27)
3 mile  Flat to Uphill- 29:02
3 mile downhill to flat - 26:25
6:30 PM

** woke up with pulled groin.  Very sore to walk **

Thursday (3/18)  - Swim 1100 yards
100 yard warm up free style
1000 yards (19:05)
100 yard split times = (1:45, 1;54, 1:51, 2:01, 2:00, 1:59, 1:55, 1:55, 1:58, 1:42)

** Groin pain moved to hip and lower back - still can't run **

Tuesday (3/23) - Walk 3 miles - back and hip still hurt

Thursday (3/25) - Bike 12.12 miles (51 minutes),
6:30 am - Average Speed 14.1
Saturday (3/27) - Bike  26.3 miles (1 hour 39 minutes)
4:30 pm - Average Speed 15.9
